8:37 pm - Video Games as Art
Hey! Does anyone still read this?

This is a game that's trying to get made. People are scared to give them money because it's about the Holocaust. This is silly. There's no reason games can't be as relevant as books and movies. So I gave these folks money, and I'm trying to let as many people know about it as I can.

Spread the word, maybe?

First things first: Demon Knights is the most awesome thing DC comics is producing right now. It stars, amongst others, Etrigan the Demon, Madame Xanadu, and Vandal Savage. It's awesome and it's too esoteric to live and it's going to be cancelled if we don't stop that from happening right now! Buy this comic. Pass it on! Pleeeease!

On another note, sure. There's a new thing going around. I'll bite. Why not.

Time to revist an old one. Took one of the stupid old personality tests again for shits and giggles. Here's the original entry, for reference ;)

11:29 pm - Hello "Atop The Fourth Wall" Commenters
This is for any of you who decide to follow my OpenID link from the comments page. As you can see, I pretty much almost never update this thing anymore. You should find this really friggin' boring, honestly.

Enjoy the nothingness.

8:48 pm - Just in case anyone still reads this thing.
Some of you may already know this, others do not. On September 11, 2010 my mother died from what was likely a Pulmonary Embolism brought on by one of several cancers afflicting her.

This has been a series of what I'd call -- because I can't come up with a more elegant or hateful term -- pissers. She went to her first doctor's appointment on my birthday, August 6th. By the 12th she found out that the lump in her hip was bone cancer. Near the end of august she got a full body CAT scan and they found cancer in her lungs, brain and liver to go along with the present in her hip. They tried chemo, but she seemed to get weak very quickly. She went to stay with her Oncologist (a friend of the family) for a little bit, as they had someone who could help look after her 24/7 (they keep a nanny for their kids).

I made it to Dallas to try to help out, get her to eat, things like that. That was the evening of September 10th. The next morning, her doctor woke me up and let me know that she'd died during the night. Her best guess was a blood clot (the aforementioned Pulmonary Embolism), especially since it doesn't seem that mom even noticed, as she didn't seem to have even woken up, thank god... We won't ever likely know for sure, we didn't bother with an autopsy, and she wanted her body donated to a university for teaching purposes. She apparently wasn't GOOD enough for UT, but Parker College (a chiropractic school) wasn't so goddamn picky. They said we'd have her ashes back within a year or two, depending...

So yeah, this is kind of a shitty couple of months for me. To anyone who was around 2k5, or knows someone who was, back in 2000-2002 or so... Yeah, this is the same lady who -- speaking through me -- made Axiom/Octane look like the little bitch he was on O-Decepticon.

Son of a bitch... I miss my mom...

Wake me up with September ends, huh?

P.S. - If anyone is interested and will be in the DFW area on September 26th, my mom's students will be putting on a show in her honor at the Dallas Galleria at 6:15 p.m.

She'd been teaching Ice Skaters for something like 15 years... I'm not real up to remembering the exact timetable, but yeah. There's that.

1:39 pm - That's what I get for disappearing...
So, first time in months, maybe even years, that I've posted anything of substance. I guess I'm a slack-ass, but then I've never really found much use for journals. Oh well, it's as good a place as any to talk without real purpose.

So, I'm back from WoW prison. I spent a couple of months there, getting a character up to 67 before I finally decided I needed to do something with more substance to it. The whole online game thing is a wonderful catharsis, but it gets boring. I needed something with more of my brain active.

Predictably, I re-apped at Mega Man MUSH. It's the same as I remember it, really. I'm still misremembering events, everyone (especially Gemma) gives me hell about that, which is familiar and pretty cool (even when I look like an idiot). ;)

Mirage Butterfly is my name now. Hunter, holo specialist... I won't go into too much detail. That's for the game to play. I still go by Jetter, tho, whether anyone wants me to or not ;)

Though I guess it isn't all sunshine and lollipops... Okay, part sucks.

About a week ago I was talking to El Scorcho (Earthscorch), and he had me read his livejournal. Then I stumbled across something depressing. Back in September, one of my oldest MU* friends, one of the guys who helped set me straight when I was just being a jackass... Died.

Shaun White was a great guy. Sometimes acerbic, but always honest and to the point, he had a lot of qualities that I tried to emulate a lot back in the day. When I was just being an asshole because I really didn't know how else to act, he and a few others helped smack me down. I owe my success in the online world to him at least partially. They all could have let me go on being an asshole and alienate myself, but they took it upon themselves to explain to me, in no uncertain terms, why my behavior was unacceptable. I appreciated that.

I hadn't talked to him in over a year, but I still considered him a friend... I just wish I'd been around to hear about it sooner. Rest in peace, buddy. Sorry for the late salute. You know me, always a few days behind.

You scored as Male. Being mostly male, within your structures of thinking simply means that your reasoning powers are (the way they are perceived in Western Culture`) higher than the one of the opposite sex. Psychoanalsis claims this to come at the price of creative expression - a rational thinker can not think out of the box, it is claimed. Yet this 'discovery' contradicts the fact that many great minds that created something out of the ordinary were men.

Should you be MALE or FEMALE?*

47,270. Not bad. You're no Mongol warlord, but to have that many copies of your genetic code running around 800 years from now is pretty impressive.

You're at the lower end of the scoring spectrum, but, honestly, when you consider that the cheaters, swindlers, and football players of this world are statistically best-equipped to create children, scoring low is something to be proud of. As you'll see below, some of your lines will die out, but nonetheless your genetic material will thrive here on earth for a long time to come.

A close friend of mine created a program to generate family trees for this test. It's based on your unique answers. We accounted for sterility, birth rates, death rates, disease, drug abuse, nitwitism, and accidents and came up with this, for you. Note that you'll have significant offspring with two separate partners; the second of your genetic lines is slighly faded to make the chart easier to read. The second line could represent either a second marriage or an affair:
